01 — PROGRAMS & WORKSHOPS

EVERY GREAT STORY STARTS WITH AN OPPORTUNITY.

Creative education. Artistic expression. Community connection.

The Passionate Dreamers Foundation believes every young person deserves an opportunity to explore their imagination and discover their creative voice.

Our programs and workshops are designed to introduce aspiring creators to the fundamentals of storytelling, artistic expression, and developing original projects.

Through hands-on learning, collaboration, and mentorship, we aim to create welcoming environments where participants can build confidence, develop creative skills, and turn their ideas into something meaningful.

Our work began with creative writing workshops, including a collaborative experience at Reed Memorial Library in Ravenna, Ohio, where participants helped develop the story behind Graffiti Dreams.

As we grow, our vision is to expand into after-school programs and workshops supporting creative writing, songwriting, acting, and performance.

Every dream deserves the tools, encouragement, and opportunity to grow.

02 — CREATIVE WRITING

HELPING THE NEXT GENERATION FIND THEIR VOICE.

From imagination to the written page.

Creative writing is at the heart of the Passionate Dreamers Foundation.

Through interactive workshops, participants explore the fundamentals of storytelling, including character development, plot structure, dialogue, and creative expression.

Our approach encourages aspiring writers to discover their own voices while building confidence in their ideas.

Rather than focusing only on the finished manuscript, we believe the creative process itself can teach valuable lessons about communication, collaboration, imagination, and perseverance.

At Reed Memorial Library in Ravenna, Ohio, a creative writing workshop brought participants together to explore storytelling and contribute ideas to a collaborative project.

That experience helped inspire Graffiti Dreams, a story about resilience, identity, artistic expression, and the power of being seen.

It demonstrated what can happen when people are encouraged to share their ideas and participate in building a story together.

Every story begins with someone believing their voice deserves to be heard.

03 — THE WORKSHOP EXPERIENCE

FROM THE FIRST IDEA TO THE FINAL PAGE.

A creative space to learn, collaborate, and discover.

Every writer begins with an idea. Our goal is to help participants discover what they can create from it.

Passionate Dreamers Foundation creative writing workshops are designed to make storytelling approachable, engaging, and collaborative.

Depending on the program’s format and participants’ experience levels, workshops may introduce the following elements:

  • Story Development

Participants explore how an idea becomes a story, learning about structure, conflict, themes, and developing a compelling narrative.

  • Character Creation

Writers discover how to build characters with motivations, personalities, relationships, and individual voices.

  • Dialogue & Creative Expression

Through writing exercises and group discussions, participants explore how characters communicate and how dialogue can bring a story to life.

  • Collaboration & Feedback

Participants are encouraged to share ideas, listen to different perspectives, and develop confidence in giving and receiving constructive feedback.

From Writing to Publication

For extended programs, our vision includes introducing participants to editing, manuscript development, and opportunities to share or publish their original creative work.

Our workshops are intended to help participants leave with more than new writing techniques.

We want them to leave believing they have a story worth telling.

04 — THE SUMMER EXPERIENCE

THREE MONTHS. ONE STAGE. COUNTLESS DREAMS.

A STORY BORN FROM A WORKSHOP. A VISION GROWING INTO SOMETHING BIGGER.

The Passionate Dreamers Foundation is developing an ambitious summer 2027 performing arts initiative inspired by Graffiti Dreams.

Following conversations with community leaders, plans are underway for a three-month educational experience that will bring together creative writing, acting, songwriting, music, and theatrical production.

Throughout the summer, participants will explore the process of transforming a written story into a live musical performance.

The proposed program will introduce character development, performance techniques, collaborative storytelling, vocal expression, rehearsals, and the fundamentals of bringing a production to the stage.

The experience is intended to culminate in a live presentation of Graffiti Dreams: The Musical at the end of summer 2027.

More than a production, the initiative is designed to provide participants with an opportunity to build confidence, explore their talents, collaborate with others, and discover the possibilities of artistic expression.

Program location, participation details, and performance information will be announced as planning progresses.

From the page to the stage, every dream deserves a chance.

  • MONTH 01 — DISCOVER

    The Story Begins

Participants explore the world of Graffiti Dreams through creative writing, character development, introductory acting exercises, and collaborative storytelling.

  • MONTH 02 — CREATE

    Finding the Music

Participants explore songwriting, vocal expression, movement, scene work, and rehearsals as the story begins taking shape for the stage.

  • MONTH 03 — PERFORM

    Bringing Dreams to Life

Participants continue rehearsals, staging, and production preparation, working toward a live musical presentation at the end of the summer.

These are proposed learning stages, so we can adjust them as the community partners, instructors, and production schedule are confirmed.

05 — SONGWRITING & MUSIC

EVERY VOICE HAS A SONG WORTH SHARING.

Finding the story behind the music.

Music has the power to tell stories that words alone sometimes cannot.

Through our developing songwriting and music programs, the Passionate Dreamers Foundation hopes to introduce aspiring artists to the creative process of transforming ideas, emotions, and personal experiences into original songs.

Participants will have opportunities to explore lyric writing, musical storytelling, song structure, vocal expression, and creative collaboration.

Whether someone is discovering their voice for the first time or developing an existing passion for music, our vision is to create an encouraging environment where artistic individuality can grow.

Songwriting will also play an important role in the proposed summer 2027 production of Graffiti Dreams: The Musical, connecting music with character, emotion, and dramatic storytelling.

As the Foundation expands its creative programs, we hope to provide aspiring songwriters with opportunities to learn from experienced artists, develop original material, and share their work with their communities.

Sometimes, the first step toward finding your voice is discovering the courage to sing your own story.

MARISSA FORD

Co-Founder | Singer-Songwriter | Actress

For Marissa Ford, creative expression is more than an artistic pursuit. It is a way to share experiences, connect with others, and give emotions a voice.

As a singer-songwriter and actress, Marissa brings her passion for music and performance to the shared vision behind the Passionate Dreamers Foundation.

Together with Dontez X. James, she helped establish the Foundation in 2024 around a common belief: that access to the arts can open doors for aspiring young creators.

Her background in music and performance is an important part of the Foundation’s ambition to expand beyond creative writing and introduce opportunities for songwriting, vocal expression, and collaboration.

As the Foundation develops its music programming and the proposed Graffiti Dreams musical, Marissa represents another side of its creative mission.

Different artistic voices. One shared purpose: helping the next generation discover their own.

06 — ACTING & PERFORMANCE

HELPING YOUNG PERFORMERS FIND THEIR TRUTH.

Confidence. Character. Creative expression.

Acting is more than memorizing lines. It is an opportunity to understand people, explore emotions, develop confidence, and communicate through storytelling.

Through its developing acting and performance programs, the Passionate Dreamers Foundation hopes to introduce aspiring performers to the fundamentals of bringing characters to life.

Our vision includes workshops exploring character development, scene study, dialogue, improvisation, emotional expression, and collaboration.

Participants will be encouraged to approach performance with curiosity, creativity, and an understanding that every character has a story worth exploring.

As the Foundation expands its educational initiatives, we hope to create opportunities for young performers to learn in supportive environments where experimentation, growth, and self-expression are encouraged.

Acting and theatrical performance will also be central to the proposed summer 2027 production of Graffiti Dreams: The Musical, providing participants with an opportunity to explore how performance connects storytelling, music, and movement.

The goal isn’t simply to teach young people how to perform. It’s to help them discover the confidence to express themselves.

DONTEZ X. JAMES

Founder | Actor | Author | Creative Educator

For Dontez X. James, storytelling has always existed across different creative worlds.

From writing his first stories at a young age to building a professional acting career in film and television, his artistic journey has been shaped by persistence, exploration, and a commitment to developing his craft.

His experience includes work in productions such as My Friend Dahmer, The Assassin’s Code, Made for Love, and All American, alongside early theater experience that helped develop his confidence and connection to performance.

As Founder of the Passionate Dreamers Foundation, Dontez hopes to use the lessons learned through writing, acting, and professional production environments to help aspiring young artists explore their own creative abilities.

His vision is to create opportunities where young performers can learn about character, develop their artistic voices, and discover how storytelling can connect people across different backgrounds and experiences.

The experience of pursuing a dream becomes even more meaningful when it creates an opportunity for someone else.

07 — SCHOOLS & COMMUNITY PARTNERS

GREAT THINGS HAPPEN WHEN COMMUNITIES CREATE TOGETHER.

Building partnerships. Creating opportunities. Inspiring the next generation.

The Passionate Dreamers Foundation believes meaningful creative opportunities are built through strong community partnerships.

Schools, libraries, educators, community organizations, and local leaders all play an important role in making arts education more accessible.

Our goal is to collaborate with partners who share our belief that every aspiring creator deserves encouragement, resources, and opportunities to develop their talents.

Through these relationships, we hope to bring creative writing workshops, storytelling experiences, songwriting programs, and acting and performance opportunities into communities where they can make a meaningful difference.

Partnership opportunities may include individual workshops, multiweek educational programs, after-school enrichment initiatives, collaborative storytelling projects, and community arts productions.

Our experience working with participants in Ravenna, Ohio, helped demonstrate how creative collaboration can bring people together around a shared idea.

As we continue developing future programs, including the proposed summer 2027 production of Graffiti Dreams: The Musical, we welcome conversations with organizations interested in exploring what we can create together.

When communities invest in creativity, they invest in the possibilities of the next generation.
